Makarand Shantaram Karandikar (Born on January 8, 1950) a renowned artist of Mumbai, Maharashtra, collected a Total of 1500+ Diyas (Lamps) from across the world based on some principles of all major religions in different materials like brass, silver, copper, wood, etc. and set a New World Records on 8th November 2023 at Andheri, Mumbai, Maharashtra. His collection includes 1.5 inches smallest lamp & 8.5 Feet tallest Samai Lamp also with many interesting and rare lamps like Ashtavinayak Lamp, Shadow Lamp, Guru Shishya Lamp, Kandul Deep based on the Gyroscopic Principle, Humphrey Davy’s Safety Lamp which save the lives of thousands of miners, Alladin’s Genie Lamp etc.
